Schaeffler Romania

Schaeffler Romania is one of the largest investments in the Group’s production capacities and produces in Brasov components for the automotive and car manufacturing industry, as well as for the wind industry. Established in 2002, Schaeffler Romania provided for the construction of a factory with 3 production halls with a total area of 55,000 square meters. After an investment exceeding 500 million euros, the factory occupies an area of 42.5 hectares, of which more than 140,000 square meters built, an area on which are located the 6 production halls, in Cristian, where the production activity takes place. . Schaeffler’s Day is celebrated every year, on October 8, thus marking the first day of activity of the factory in Brasov.

Short description

Since its establishment in 2002 and until now, Schaeffler Romania has developed and added important objectives to its portfolio, among which we mention:

  • Inauguration of the first dual vocational school in Romania;
  • Kronstadt German Vocational School;
  • Inauguration of the Schaeffler Engineering Center, dedicated to research and development of new products;
  • and from 2019 a new Schaeffler Test Center.

Also, during the more than 15 years of activity, the production activity has developed and record products have been made (the heaviest bearing of 10.5 tons, the largest bearing with a diameter of 4m, special bearings for wind or mining industry), which add value to the location in Romania.

Initially registered under the name of INA Schaeffler Braşov as a subsidiary of the Schaeffler Group, the company was renamed in 2006 receiving the name of Schaeffler Romania. In 2019, Schaeffler Romania marked a new stage from this point of view, going through an extensive rebranding process, which eliminated the old name of the company. By unifying its corporate representation globally, the new brand identity restores unity and is part of the company’s development strategy.

Schaeffler Romania produces linear technology components for the machine tool industry, components for the automotive industry and large bearings for various industrial applications. Both the product range and the engineering division are constantly evolving, with Schaeffler inaugurating its own Engineering Center in 2012, and in 2019 a Testing and Validation Center. The company has an extremely active presence in the university and pre-university environment, as well as multiple actions and social involvement projects, according to the tradition of the family company.
